More Ice Activities!

I think on Friday's I'm going to start making finger foods for meal times and doing more fine motor activities. Although today they were kind of picky with their lunch. It's funny what you think they would eat they don't and what you think they wouldn't eat they will...

This morning we had fun picking out crayons on our fake grass, they sit so well during coloring time and are great about sharing crayons with their friends.

Painting with colored ice cubes is so much fun!

We love riding our bikes!

This afternoon we had fun exploring our frozen block of ice. It was a fun melting ice activity and science experiment. This is awesome for encouraging fine motor skills. I gave them tools and small cups so that they could scoop up warm water in a large bowl and pour it over the ice cubes to watch it melt. They were so excited when they found the cars frozen in the ice and couldn't wait to get it out. It also taught them teamwork and each taking turns helping one another.

It makes a great indoor or outdoor science sensory play for all ages to enjoy! We loved melting ice!  Cool in the Summer for outdoor play and great indoor activity for the Winter, plus your kitchen floor will be washed!

Exploring Ice!

I love doing sensory play so when I noticed that it was going to be in the freezing temps this week I decided to freeze some ice outside. I poured different colors of paint, brought out our magnet blocks and some hammers and tools.

We talked about how cold the ice is and what happens to water when it freezes. They noticed different colors it was making on the ice, so we talked about when two colors are mixed they make a new color.

During Cleanup time we wash our hands, lets just say this is what happens when you have older friends that turn on the water for you, and some can't even make it to the bathroom because they are so tired from all that playing...

Yesterday we had fun with a snowflake cookie cutter, we made big snowflakes on our papers.

We really love doing puzzles!

Saying Goodbye

We had to say goodbye to our friend Brooks on Friday, he moved away but we will get to see him again for a week in March! They donated their playground to for us to play on, we thank you so much we will have so much fun swinging and going down the slide.

Happy 2017, With the new year brings more changes to Becky's Blessings. I am creating a schedule that I will post by their cubbies, we have some new toys, I am in the process of writing my January newsletter and working on getting you all my tax id for this tax season.

Lea's older sister joined us for a few days last week during her Christmas vacation. She had fun being Miss Becky's helper that day. If you notice, they all like to pick out their favorite books to read besides our story of the day.

We love messy art fun! Here we made shapes with lego duplo blocks.

I had so much leftover fruit on Friday that I made a fruit salad for afternoon snack. They ate this better than any other snack we've ate. So far I have really good eaters in this bunch. However Cottage cheese is not a likable food.

Our favorite activities throughout the week have been playing with magnet shapes and playdough.

Busy Boys!

We got out the pretend hair dressing tools yesterday and had a blast doing each others hair. I ended up buying more accessories for the boys including a hair dryer, razor, pretend scissors, and a cologne spray bottle.

We've been reading lots of books lately, and i'm so happy to read to them throughout the day. They all have their favorites. One of the books we read was the Magic Snowman. And what happens to the snowman when he drinks something hot he melts. They were really confused why our snowman got smaller so I just told them he drank something hot. We had fun painting with cotton balls and making snowballs.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful Christmas gifts and gift cards to Amazon. I was able to purchase some fun things for our downstairs play area. Including my parents who purchased a basketball hoop and more trikes to ride on. Important skill to work on, by summertime we should all be able to ride them outside.
