Becky’s Blessings
Childcare
March, 2016
Dear
Families,
It’s that
time of year when everyone wears green and has a touch of “Spring Fever!” Hopefully,
we will continue to experience some springtime weather, which will allow us to
go outside to play in the fresh air for longer periods of time. We really look
forward to going to Sunrise Park and playing on the big playground.
Happy
Birthday to Micah, who will turn 2 this month! We will celebrate with a
birthday party and cupcakes. Our themes for this month are Dr. Seuss, Transportation,
Green, and Springtime. We had fun making Dr. Seuss crafts and reading many books
like Hop on Pop, Dr. Brown Can Moo and Green Eggs and Ham. For Transportation
week we will be making some cute footprint cars, driving in paint, and playing
with our new CAT Dump trucks. We will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day week by wearing
green and taking our Leprechaun pictures with funny hats. For Spring time, we
will talk about baby animals, the weather, and gardening.
The new Zoo
phonic letters we are working are include: Inny Inchworm (i), Vinnie Vampire
Bat (V), Yancy Yak (y), and Zeke Zebra (z). Towards the end of March the
remaining Zoo Phonics characters and their sounds will be introduced: Catina
Cat (c/s), Ellie Elephant (e), Gordo Gorilla (g/j), Ollie Octopus (o), Umber
Umbrella Bird (u), and Xavier Fox (x).
As we get closer to March 17, we will be
learning lots about those mischievous little guys, the leprechauns! One of the
best things about leprechauns, besides finding their pots of gold, are
rainbows! We will be doing lots of activities exploring all the colors of the
rainbow. We will use the rainbow parachute to make our mini balls go up and
down, make a fizzy rainbow, and make handprint rainbows. To celebrate the green of Ireland we will make
cool clover paintings and make silly green hats to wear during our St.
Patrick’s Day Party! At our party, we will try green food and rainbow sherbet.
We will be
working on some new finger plays this month which include: “The Color Song” and
“Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.” For our quiet time of the day, which is
right before we go down for our nap we will be reading some new books,
including “Goodnight Baby Animals”, “Eating the Alphabet,” and many Dr. Seuss
books. They love books, and I love to read to them!
