April Newsletter

Dear Families,
April is here, and along with it comes spring and April showers. Showers lead to beautiful flowers and green grass – fun colors, textures, and scents for the kids to experience. Spring provides us with lots of opportunities to explore, observe and talk. Our themes for this month include Eric Carle, Spring, Easter, and Bugs.  April 8th is Miss Becky’s birthday, and we will make snow cones with a new snoopy snow cone machine. Some other important dates: we will have a pajama day on April 7th, and have an Easter egg hunt on April 14th in the backyard.

During Circle time we will be singing some new songs, including Little Bunny Foo Foo and Five Little Ducks finger play. We will have a picture wall of our family photos. Please send Becky pictures either via Facebook or email, also pictures of grandparents or pets that we can include on our wall.

We will be exploring games this month. For our younger ones, we will practice simple coordination with balancing plastic eggs on spoons.  For the older kids, Easter Egg letter matching with lower case letters, Candy land to work on counting, and color recognition and memory games.

Our activities for this month will be making contact paper butterflies and contact paper flowers. Both activities expose the children to decision making by allowing them to choose how many pieces of paper and what color flowers they want to add to their pictures. It also gives the me a chance to talk to the children about color recognition and counting skills as I watch the children create their art work. We will also be marble painting. This activity helps children to develop their upper body strength and allows them to be independent. They will also be making glitter rain drops and finger paint umbrellas, as well as some cute hand and footprint art crafts!

Cooking Activity

I love cooking activities with my kiddos, Every week we do a cooking activity. Last week we made green sugar cookies. They did really well smashing it together, adding sprinkles and rolling out the dough with their rolling pins. I even splurged and bought a set of  kids aprons on Amazon for the next cooking activity we will do.

Some of our artwork. Our walls in our classroom are so bright and cheerful!

Happy Birthday Micah!

Today we celebrated Micah's 2nd birthday!
I caught little man trying to open his birthday gifts right after breakfast when we were supposed to be washing up, so after we finished that was the first thing we did!

This morning we had sticker fun, for some reason or another I always tend to do stickers on birthday parties or holidays. It's such a fun fine motor activity and who doesn't love stickers!?

We love giving the birthday boy hugs on his birthday!!!

Cake is always so messy, but they don't have it often so it's a fun treat to have. This week they are going to be all sugared up, planning a cooking activity this week plus our St. Patrick's Day party on Friday.. I hope we can at least go outside once this week!

We had a Light Show Dance party this afternoon, my kiddos have quite the moves!
