Kids in the Kitchen 2- ingredient Strawberry Cake

 Every Wednesday we do a kids in the kitchen cooking activity. For the month of February we will be making something red each week. This week we made 2 ingredient strawberry cake one box of angel food cake and one can of strawberry filling. We mixed it together and baked it at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. 

This 2 ingredient strawberry cake is amazing and so easy to make especially with toddlers! It’s an egg free dessert and super moist plus the kids are excited they get to lick the bowl if we don't use eggs!

Sensory Play Fun with cornstarch and water

 Cornstarch and water makes the best sensory play! Though it can be very messy but VERY FUN! I let each of the children pick out two of their favorite colors. This is my favorite group activity to do with them.

We love brushing our teeth after meal times!

Science Fun

I need to stock up on baking soda and vinegar because we just love doing this fun science activity! Next time I’m definitely going to use paint instead of food coloring because as it turns out I kind of dyed their hands different colors! They stuck with this activity for 30 minutes and we’re disappointed when we had to clean up for lunch.

Dear Parents,

In February we will focus on sharing, caring, love and friendship. For our Valentine’s Day party, we will be making mailboxes. Please bring in a shoebox so we can decorate it!  We will begin making our Valentine Day boxes on Wednesday February 9^th. We will have our Valentine’s Day party Monday, the 14^th.. We have two birthdays this month. Happy Birthday to Luca who will turn 3 on February 1^st. We celebrate his birthday this Wednesday. Happy Birthday to Kam who will be 5. We will celebrate his birthday on February 16^th.

Even though February is the shortest month of the year, we have so much going on. We will do many art explorations using the colors red and pink and heart shapes to decorate our classroom. We will also continue with winter related projects. Our Parents night out will be Saturday, February 19^th from 5:30-8:30pm. Please have your child eat before they come. We will have a snack later on in the evening. Spiderman will arrive between 7:15-7:30 pm. Feel free to send them in their pajamas!

Some fun new songs we will add to our circle time will be “Skidamarink” with hand actions, “I’ve Got the Joy Down in My Heart”, “Snowflakes Falling From the Sky”. This month during circle time we will learn all about shapes, and for the preschoolers, we will learn about 3D shapes.

Kids in the Kitchen this month will be on Wednesdays. We will be making something each week that is red. We will make raspberry jello, red velvet cupcakes, strawberry smoothies, and spread strawberry jam on our pbj rollups.

We will be taking our Valentine’s Day pictures on Wednesday, February 11^th. Please have your child wear red or pink! The pictures will be printed out for you on the day of our party!

Show and Tell this month will be to bring in something of the color Red. Show and Tell is every Wednesday!
